If you find yourself being attacked, you can use an Evasive Skill or simply press X to vanish behind your opponent. While you’re on the ground or in the air, you can flick L2 while tilting the left analog to do a sidestep to avoid Ki blasts. If you press X while doing this powerful dash, you’ll automatically show up behind your locked on target. If you press X and L2 at the same time, you’ll do an even more powerful dash, but be aware that this will drain one stamina bar from your stamina gauge (we’ll go in-depth about stamina further down). This will allow your character to fly through the air much faster for exploring each area or to get into battle that much quicker. Press L2 and the left analog to do a boost dash. Press and hold the left analog stick to descend. Hold down X to ascend, which will cause your character to float and move in the air. However, most of your fighting will be done in mid-air, so you’ll need to acclimate to fighting while airborne. You can go underwater with no need to worry about oxygen levels. These are rather simple commands and you can explore enough of each area by foot. Your stamina gauge will also slowly fill up as you go, and this determines how much you can dash or use your vanish abilities. This gauge will slowly fill up on its own, but you’ll need to obtain a Power Charge Super Attack to charge your gauge faster. The Ki Gauge determines if you can use your Super Attacks. In the top left-hand corner is your health bar, Ki gauge and stamina gauge. This move uses Ki, but it’ll allow you to fly towards your opponent while dodging their projectiles.ĭragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden will release in Japan on Jfor Nintendo 3DS.The item menu during battle Photo: Bandai Namco And finally, pressing the direction towards the enemy while pressing R will bust out with a Hyper Dash. The B button’s evasive move can be timed perfectly when an opponent attacks, which can leave them open for a punish. You’ll need to hold down the R button to charge your Ki, and you’ll be vulnerable to attacks when you do, so be careful! These also use up your Ki, but they’re all powerful attacks, like Goku’s Kamehameha. These have various special effects and vary per character. L + X is for pulling off Blitz Arts that consume your Ki meter. The L + Y Surprise Attack is used to throw your opponent off guard, and you can even get other characters to join in on some. Y, Y, Y, Y, Y is used for a similar “New Combo” that knocks opponents into the side of the screen. Those of you who played the previous Butoden games might be familiar with these, as they were some of the most powerful moves that launched enemies into the sky. Y, Y, Y, Y, X is the command for doing a “Meteor Combo”. X and A pulls off a Blast Combo, which is filled with moves that can chip away at the opponent’s guard meter.
